SmallGovCon Week in Review, November 6-10, 2023, A Salute to Our Veterans!

Tomorrow is Veterans Day and SmallGovCon would like to thank our veterans for their service.

Here are some interesting historical facts about Veterans Day. It was on November 11, 1921, an unidentified American soldier killed in the war was buried at Arlington National Cemetery. The US Department of Veterans Affairs holds a ceremony each year in Arlington National cemetery, to honor and thank all who served in the US Armed Forces. The first celebration using the term Veterans Day occurred in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1947. You can read more about the history of Veterans Day here.

If you are not a veteran, please reach out and take a moment to thank those veterans in your life. We hope you will consider attending a Veterans Day event in your area to thank them for their service and honor their sacrifice.

SmallGovCon Week in Review: June 13-17, 2022

Happy Friday and Happy Juneteenth! This year, June 19, Juneteenth, falls on a Sunday, so the federal holiday, established in 2021, will be observed on Monday, June 20. Juneteenth arose from the date of June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas–when African Americans in the state learned of their freedom due to the Emancipation Proclamation and Thirteenth Amendment. Juneteenth celebrations often focus on education and reflection on the path to freedom as well as the steps still needed to achieve equity in our country.

SmallGovCon Week in Review, April 18-22, 2022

Happy Friday, Readers! I hope you had a very productive week. It’s hard to believe that we are almost through the month of April already and It won’t be long before the kids are out of school. Parents get ready!!!

The world of federal government contracting just seems to get busier and busier. This week there were several articles on the Pentagon’s budget increasing for AI capabilities and the implementation of Buy American Preference for infrastructure. We’ve also included a few cautionary tales on why it’s a terrible idea for contractors, or anyone else, to try to defraud the federal government. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

SmallGovCon Week in Review: November 1-5, 2021

Happy Friday, Readers. We hope you had a productive week. November 11 is Veteran’s Day. This holiday started as a day to honor the heroism of those who died in our country’s service and was originally called Armistice Day. It fell on Nov. 11 because that is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. However, in 1954, the holiday was changed to “Veterans Day” in order to recognize and honor all veterans of war. Koprince McCall Pottroff LLC would like to thank all veterans for your service.
